I work with individuals who are supporting someone they care about who may be struggling with mental health or substance use challenges. Supporting someone in this situation can be incredibly stressful, confusing, and sometimes isolating. Our work together focuses on helping you make sense of what’s happening, set healthy boundaries, and find ways to care for yourself while still caring about the person in your life.

I’ve spent many years working within mental health and substance use systems, supporting both individuals who are struggling and the people who care deeply about them. Over time, I’ve seen how often the focus stays on the person experiencing the crisis, while the partners, parents, siblings, and loved ones supporting them are left carrying an enormous emotional weight on their own. My work focuses on supporting those supporters — helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing, navigate complicated emotions, set healthy boundaries, and find ways to care for yourself while continuing to care about the person in your life.

Sessions are offered on a per-session basis. The standard fee for a 60-minute counselling session is $160. I understand that financial circumstances can vary, and I offer a limited number of sliding scale spaces for individuals who may need some flexibility. If cost is a concern, you are welcome to reach out and we can discuss whether a sliding scale option may be available.

My approach is down-to-earth, genuine, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly about what’s really going on without feeling judged or needing to have everything figured out. Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or unsure of what to do next, especially when they’re trying to support someone they care about who may be struggling with mental health or substance use challenges.
Over the years I’ve spent working in mental health and substance use systems, I’ve come to understand how much weight the supporters of those struggling often carry. My work focuses on creating a space where you can talk honestly about what you’re experiencing, sort through complicated emotions, and find practical ways forward.
While the conversations we have can sometimes be difficult, I also believe the space should feel human and real. Humor can sometimes be part of the process when it fits, because being able to take a breath — and occasionally even laugh — can make heavy situations feel a little more manageable.
Together we focus on gaining clarity, strengthening boundaries, and finding ways for you to care for yourself while continuing to care about the people in your life.
